What this blog is about:

My journey to making Jesus my Pearl; turning away from the thinking of this world and finding my identity and joy in Christ alone.

Matthew 13:44-46

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."

satan is a big, ugly liar

I see the tears in an adult friends eyes and streaming down her face as she shares about her parents divorce. She can't hold back the tears anytime she talks about it even though it was over 10 years ago! One of her most priceless possessions is an inexpensive necklace. Why is it her prized possession? Because it was the last gift given to her by BOTH of her parents, when they were still married. The pain of divorce lingers.

I see the little girl with a down cast face. She's with her Daddy preparing for her basketball game. It's time for the game to start; She looks anxiously to the door of the gymnasium saying "Where's Mommy?". Divorce causes uncertainty and anxiety in a child's life.

I see the teenage boy who's heart is torn. He's been given the choice of who to live with. How does he decide? How does he choose between two people he loves; two people he does not want to hurt? He wants to live with them both. Divorce divides a family and breaks a child's heart.

With pain I look into the swollen eyes of a precious friend who looks fearfully into the future with her young children in tow. Why is she afraid? Because her life and her dreams have been turned upside down. Will the man who has been her faithful, giving, supportive husband now choose to walk away?

In a world that focuses on self and the temporal;
a world where you step on others to further self;
a world where a promise can be rescinded;
in a world where love is simply a feeling that might fade tomorrow:
I beg you to take a stand for marriage.
Do not believe the lies of satan.
He wants you to focus on self.
He is determined to convince you that you are choosing what is "best".
He does not believe in keeping promises.
He does not promote truth; he distorts it.
He is a big, ugly liar that masquerades as an angel of light.
Do not be deceived;
His ways seem pleasing for a time but he will devour and destroy.
There is no peace for those who follow him.

Instead of running after selfish gains
surrender to the Lord God almighty.
Seek restoration not division.
Decide to love.
Choose to give; Choose to forgive.
Be faithful not only for the better but for the worse!

Love isn't simply a feeling; feelings change.
Love isn't just a desire; Love is a decision!

  1. Amen! We need to do everything we can to encourage couples to keep their marriage vows. My husband and I went through a long separation when my kids were small but thank God we will celebrate 25 yrs of marriage next month.

  2. Love is truly a principle. And divorce is heartwrending...
