What this blog is about:

My journey to making Jesus my Pearl; turning away from the thinking of this world and finding my identity and joy in Christ alone.

Matthew 13:44-46

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."

Love, Honor, and Cherish...

Love, Honor, & Cherish

I was thinking tonight of the marriage vows I made to my husband over 14 years ago... "To love, honor, & cherish"

Love: a deep devotion
Honor: highly regard; great respect given
Cherish: to hold dear;to take good care of; protect

The best way to protect your marriage and show your love to your husband is to treat him with utmost respect; make it clear that he has a place of honor; he is highly regarded!
We tend to think - "He does not treat me lovingly so why should I respect him?" Husbands interpret being loved by being respected. So, when we withhold respect we begin a vicious cycle that is talked about in the following book: Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs

In our pride we think he should be the one to show love first and then we'll respect. We, wives can change the cycle.
Try it! Humble yourself and start showing him unconditional respect he in turn will begin to show you the love you are longing for.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
