What this blog is about:

My journey to making Jesus my Pearl; turning away from the thinking of this world and finding my identity and joy in Christ alone.

Matthew 13:44-46

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."

The crocus - beauty comes out of bleakness

I was delighted in the past two weeks to see my crocus flowers open!

There are many other flowers that I find more beautiful than a crocus but a crocus brings a feeling of delight and wonder that no other flower gives. It's not as much it's appearance but its accomplishment! No other flower in my landscape breaks forth from cold hard ground when there is snow still in the air. When I'm weary from the winter's cold and bleak landscape the little crocus pops up and provides such a refreshing contrast to the dreariness around it! It's a flower of hope. It's a reminder of new life... that Spring will once again come; that after bleakness there is new life!

It's so often like that in our lives isn't it? Everything can seem so bleak and dark, and cold! It can seem hope is lost. Then God uses that time of darkness for growth and creates a new bloom. He refine us and creates new growth in our heart!

The little crocus does not fear when it is buried in that cold, dark earth in the dead of Winter. It's hope is not lost. No, it is waiting with anticipation! For it knows when the harshness of winter seems it will not flee; that is when it will get to break forth and bloom!

God is with us when there is times of darkness and dreariness in our lives! Do not lose hope but wait with anticipation! God will bring forth a new bloom in your life and it will be beautiful!
