What this blog is about:

My journey to making Jesus my Pearl; turning away from the thinking of this world and finding my identity and joy in Christ alone.

Matthew 13:44-46

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."

What is our Role?

It was a blessing to get to spend Mother's Day at a country church my Uncle pastors at in central Indiana. My Uncle is a gifted speaker who speaks with a lot of passion. He has been used by God in many different ways... ways that God especially suited him for through many difficult trials and extraordinary experiences.
This Sunday he spoke on something I had never heard him (nor any other Pastor) speak about - a message so near to my heart right now. It was a bold message that many ministers would have not had the courage to bring before a congregation, especially on Mother's Day! (Blessings to you Uncle Tom for always have the courage to share what God puts on your heart!)

His message was titled God save the Queen! He talked about how the Bible says marriage is honorable yet, the majority of teens don't want to get married. The question to answer was why? Why does our society no longer look on marriage as something of honor; something they desire? His response to that was that it is because as men and women/ husband's and wives, even as Christians, we are very confused about our role.
There is so much I could share from the message he shared but I want to focus on sharing some of what he shared concerning a wife's role. So the following that I am sharing are all thoughts from the message my Uncle Tom shared:

We are to be completing our husband - NOT competing with him! He doesn't want us trying to show him up. Our husband wants us cheering for him! The praise of others may bring a smile but it's his own wife's praise that he longs for. It's her cheers that help enable him to be all he can be. He cannot complete his purpose without his helpmate. The King needs the Queen's cheers!
An important reminder: God made woman that her desire be for her husband. The husband is to be her priority. Where God made man's priority to be the kingdom. The problem is we women are bitter... we want to be the husband's top priority. Not only do we want to be top priority we want to be the King of the castle! We fight, we manipulate, and compete until many a husband gives up and surrenders the control. We think a battle has been won but instead a battle for our family has been lost! Not only are we not fulfilling the purpose God designed for us we are also losing the spiritual covering over our children. We need to stop demanding our rights and fulfill the role God designed us to fulfill!

We are to be the help mate! We are to encourage our husband, be an emotional support to him. He needs our approval! God made woman from man's rib. Did you ever think about that the rib covers the heart? The husband heart is vulnerable without his wife. He needs his queen. He needs a virtuous wife.(Proverbs 31:10) The problem is we have chosen to seek power instead of virtue. If we are loyal, submissive, and respectful and we honor our husband and are obedient to him NOT only will God bless us but we WILL have the place of honor in our husband's heart that we so desire! If we support our husband (and his vision) and cheer for his kingdom, he will in turn cherish us. He will then desire our input and seek it in every decision. A partnership will result.
